The FGCA works with approximately 100 volunteers per year and provides a large range of volunteer opportunities for community members. Whether you want to volunteer just once or are looking for a regular activity, develop your resume or are looking to share your experience, we thrive to provide you a fulfilling role. Our high-quality standards for volunteer management make us a place where volunteers are valued and recognized.

Current Volunteer Opportunities
Clothing Swap Volunteer
Help make our clothing swap a welcoming and organized event! Volunteers will assist with setup, sorting and organizing clothing, greeting participants, keeping the space tidy, and helping with take down.
If you have a vehicle, help drop-off leftover donations to a larger donation centre at the end of the day. Mileage reimbursement provided.Â
Queer Community dinner volunteer
Queer Community Dinner is a monthly gathering (4th Friday of the month) where we welcome all queer and trans folks in our community to join us for a nutritious meal, meet neighbours, and connect with one another in an intentional and inclusive space! We need volunteers to help cook, serve, and clean up! Queer, trans, and allies welcome.
Climate Action Group
Join our re-booted Climate Action Group! Meet and discuss with your neighbours on what you can do at a neighbourhood level to tackle the climate change. We are still establishing our priorities as a group, so if you have good ideas, we want to hear them!
Observer Newspaper writer
Help us with our community newspaper, the Observer. Highlight the variety of initiatives and activities that make Fairfield Gonzales lively!
Interview people who are involved in the neighbourhood, report on local events, or just write about something you are passionate about! We are ideally looking for someone who can commit to 1-3 articles per trimester. All levels of writing skills can contribute!

Create opportunities for residents to shape the future of Fairfield Gonzales’s urban planning!
This committee is interested in neighbourhood redevelopment, rezoning, subdividing and street development in the Fairfield area. The group meets regularly to learn more about current applications and record public input on these matters. Meet online once or twice a month!
