The FGCA works with approximately 100 volunteers per year and provides a large range of volunteer opportunities for community members. Whether you want to volunteer just once or are looking for a regular activity, develop your resume or are looking to share your experience, we thrive to provide you a fulfilling role. Our high-quality standards for volunteer management make us a place where volunteers are valued and recognized.

Current Volunteer Opportunities
Help receive, sort, and cycle donated clothing items at our Clothing Swap events. If you love thrifting, this is a great opportunity for you – volunteers get first pick! If you have a vehicle, help drop-off leftover donation bags to a larger donation centre at the end of the event. We are currently looking for volunteers from 11:30-1:15pm.
Climate Action Group
Join our re-booted Climate Action Group! Meet and discuss with your neighbours on what you can do at a neighbourhood level to tackle the climate change. We are still establishing our priorities as a group, so if you have good ideas, we want to hear them!
Music in the Garry Oak - Event & Photography Volunteer
Be a part of this lovely candlelight concert series this winter! Volunteers will help set-up/decorate the venue, ticket check-in, and clean up, while getting to enjoy a free live show. We are also looking for a photographer volunteer. If you have a camera and want to help capture this cozy event, please reach out!
Observer Newspaper writer
Highlight the variety of initiatives and activities that make Fairfield Gonzales lively!
Whether you already know the neighbourhood well or want to discover local life and new people, you can help us with our community newspaper, the Observer. Interview people who are involved in the neighbourhood, report on local events, or just write about something you are passionate about! We are ideally looking for someone who can commit to 1-3 articles per trimester. All levels of writing skills can contribute!

Create opportunities for residents to shape the future of Fairfield Gonzales’s urban planning!
This committee is interested in neighbourhood redevelopment, rezoning, subdividing and street development in the Fairfield area. The group meets regularly to learn more about current applications and record public input on these matters. Meet online once or twice a month!
