Fairfield-Gonzales Spring Soil-Building Materials Distribution

Bring your own shovel & container, and come pick-up some compost, wood chips, and leaf mulch to prep your gardens for the growing season! Materials are on first-come-first-serve basis.

What is Get Growing?

Get Growing, Victoria! is a free vegetable and herb seedlings and garden material distribution program created by the City of Victoria. In partnership with over 50 community and non-profit organizations, 80,000 vegetable and herb seedlings, along with gardening materials, and education through @Growing Together, will be distributed for FREE to support communities in need during the 2023/24 growing season. Parking will be available along Thurlow Rd on park-side of the road.

Who is eligible for this program?

The project prioritizes support for people that may face barriers to access food plants and garden materials and may not have access to fresh food. This may include, but is not limited to:

Indigenous and racialized communities
people who have experienced loss of work
people who are immunocompromised
people living with cognitive, physical or social barriers or disabilities
seniors
youth
families in need
people who are unhoused
people who self-identify as food insecure
